Start of Task 8 Research

I was late to Monday's lesson, however I came into class with the CD Covers I want to research further. Starting from the left, the artist is PartyNextDoor with his album Partynextdoor Two. The genre is classed as Indie R&B but this comes under contemporary R&B. The second artist is Little Simz, whose album is called E.D.G.E. Her genre is based mostly on R&B and Rap. The last CD cover I would like to research is Trapsoul by Bryson Tiller. As my music video is a song by him, I have decided to look at one of his covers, to try and understand true personality. His genre is based on Hip Hop and R&B, with the hints of Indie R&B. I will continue further research on my case studies. 

Editing Day 3

Today's editing was productive, as I acclaimed new footage from Wednesday's shoot. This was mainly location shots and with these shots, I wanted to explore what I could possibly do on Final Cut Pro. Whilst editing, one of the techniques I wanted to use for my music video actually worked and worked well. I wanted to speed up my locations shots, via the motion settings, which allowed the footage to move faster. However, I am still going to explore what else I could possibly do. Also, I focused a bit on props. One of the set props was going to be the actress holding the phone with the song name at present. However, because of time, I decided that it was best if I just took a few shots of the prop: as a mid shot, a zoom shot and close up shots. I also tried to gain a pulling focus effect, (which did work), but I will have to edit and crop out footage in order to make this effect happen properly. Editing Day 2

With the second day of editing, I seemed to have a lot of time trying to focus on mainly the introduction as well as the chorus. I learnt how to cut segments of a clip and developed on my knowledge of the number of transitions available to me. I felt that this was a productive day of editing, as I really tried to go in depth with my editing and made sure clips were in sync. However, I still need to collect some more essential footage from a friend's camera and possibly film the music studio shots by taking the camera and tripod for a day, using the new booking system. This unfortunately leaves my music video with gaps, but once completion of the music studio shoot and receiving my footage, I believe that I will be fully focused on editing. For now, I can work with footage that I have.

Editing Day 1

Looking at Wednesday's footage of the actress, I was able to make a start on editing some of the footage through Final Cut Pro. Whilst I was editing, I was also looking to use After Effect, which is an Adobe programme. However, as this was relatively new to me, I needed help from the technicians Tom and Tyler. They helped me on how to render and gain different colour backgrounds. I also found out on how to change the background colours at any stage I wanted, whether having the colours change fast or having the colours intertwine with each other.

These are just some of the photos that were taken during the shoot. I will now be looking to start editing the footage from yesterday and Wednesday. I still need to collect the footage from last week Sunday and try to book the music studio for Shoot No. 4. This will be the main focus for verse 3 of the song. Hopefully, I am also able to book further editing times for this Wednesday and possibly Thursday.

Completion of Shoot Three

I have completed the night shoot at Tottenham Hale. I seemed to have some difficulties at the end of the shoot, as I had found out that it was private property and that I had to just speak to someone in the office about using the area. However, the security man was nice to me and understood that it was a college project and not a leisure project. I feel that I collected a good amount of footage, however, I had problems with the way my actor was lip-syncing and really got him to express himself, let go and express the words as if he really means them. I also collected a few location shots for additional scenes, which will hopefully be used. I will now complete the call sheet for the two shoots that I completed yesterday and on Wednesday. 

Completion of Shoot Two

I have completed the shoot that the actress features in. As she will only feature in the video a few times, I dedicated the time to film today in the TV Studio. I also found out that they wouldn't be able to make the shoot for Saturday so I had an alternative plan to add a few location scenes. The unfortunate outcome of this is that we won't see the actor and actress together. However, I may still try to fit this in, if I need any more additional footage. I spoke to Tyler about the type of effect that I could place and will confirm the style that I would like to have as the after effect. The next shoot to look forward to (hopefully) is the Saturday shoot for more night shots. Here is an example of a position that my actress was in whilst filming her.

I am still waiting for the footage that was taken on Sunday. My teacher has advised me to use a hard drive to transfer the footage or USB's that hold a lot of memory. I am hoping to have the footage by tomorrow. I have also booked the TV Studio for Wednesday so I can shoot shots for the video, which gives me the remaining of the weekend to complete the other main night scene and any additional shots that may need to be taken. Here are just some of the pictures from the shoot, which should give an insight as to what footage background was like and locations. Camera shots are a range, from establishing shots to mid shots.

I have completed my first shoot and I am now waiting for the clips to be emailed to me. Whilst I wait, I will carry on with my storyboard and fill in a call sheet for this shoot that I have done. I will also re-visit my blog to see if anything is still outstanding. Hopefully my aim is to get my footage by today, check what I have in tomorrow's lesson, then look to film for Wednesday.

Shoot One

Just waiting for my actor to arrive at the meeting spot so we can start the shoot which is very near. Hopefully we are for a productive shoot today, which will relieve some stress and pressure for time for me.
