Unfortunate Changes to Filming

I arrived back from holiday on Tuesday and it was planned that I was to film on Wednesday and Thursday. Unfortunately, I fell sick on the way back from the holiday (the Tuesday) and the sickness continued until yesterday. I have arranged other days to film for the video as the deadline is fast approaching for me. I have looked at Sunday, Monday or Tuesday and Wednesday to film. If I need additional days to film, I will use the Friday and possibly the weekend. However, I am trying to avoid using the weekend, as I want to look and arrange my footage for the pieces that I will start editing the following week.

Here is the requirements I have, the chat between me and the actor and the pictures delivered.

Treatment for Bryson Tiller 'Exchange'

Treatment

The song that I am doing is Bryson Tiller, 'Exchange'

Audience:

´ I will focus on all genders, but mainly ages 16-30. However, due to where my video will be broadcasted, any age will be able to access and watch the video.

´ I will look to broadcast the music video on social media sites, such as YouTube, Twitter and Instagram. This is mainly because the use of social media is high in modern society. Twitter will allows us to show snippets of the music video, whereas with YouTube, the video will be placed on the platforms of TV and Internet.

Inspiring Music Video:

´ Bryson Tiller- Don’t
´ Chris Brown- Don’t Judge Me

The inspirations came from these videos, as some of the shots would suit the style of my song, especially the parts that Chris Brown is sitting with the girl that is associated with him. Bryson Tiller ‘Don’t’ is similar to the song I am doing, which is also by Bryson Tiller. This is helpful, as I could get an insight into the type of intimate feel his video gives off to his audience. Also, as I am adding shots of the girl that Bryson talks about, it was also good to get an understanding as to whether we see her a lot or just in a few shots of the video.

Themes included: Process of thought, Love and Regret. The Length of the music video is 3:15 but I will extend it to 3:30, as I want to include an introduction to show different locations and a longer outro which will last a bit longer than the audio itself.

Locations:

´ TV Studio at LSC
´ Hale Village: Tottenham Hale (Night Time)
´ Skate Park (Daytime)
´ Overground Platform and Top Deck of Bus
´ Music Studio at LSC

These are my set locations that I am wanting to shoot at. I have set out the main locations and the minor locations such as the bus location.

Clothing:

For the studio shoot, I am looking at an all-black clothing requirement. This will represent a dark, isolated environment, which can link to process of thoughts. As the underground scene is the first scene that we will see the actor, I am looking for the actor to be the main attraction, as this is where the lip syncing will start. Hopefully, the requirement for this is a non-black jacket with jeans and trainers, to represent a stereotypical black RnB singer. For the night time scene, I am looking to have bright colours on the actor (Red jumper/hoodie) with jeans and trainers again.

Lighting:

The studio will provide me the ability to change the lighting to my own requirements, whereas the set external locations will give me my set lighting, such as low key lighting at night and artificial lighting in the day. However, changing the ISO on the camera will allow me to change the lighting when shooting.

Casting:

´ Ja’Quarn- Main Actor (Shadowing Bryson Tiller)
´ Courtney or Kiya- Main Actress (Shadowing Ex-Girlfriend)
´ Tyrell- Main Cameraman/Producer
´ Ashaana- Helper/Assistant

Analysis of Lyrics

Here is the sheet whereby I analysed the lyrics of the song Bryson Tiller 'Exchange'. I have gone on to analyse the lyrics, which will be the foundation of what shots, lighting and locations I am looking to shoot at. Also, editing techniques would be taken into account throughout the whole set of lyrics

Team Meeting #5

We had a team meeting reviewing our blogs together. However, over the course of the week, I have decided to move groups, working on my own. This was my own decision and my group are aware of this, having a conversation with them. I have decided to do a Bryson Tiller song, 'Exchange'.

Bedroom Location Pictures

This location will be the location that we will film the first verse and first chorus for. The bedroom will convey a sense of sensitive emotion and lots of processing and thinking, as it is a small intimate environment. The idea is also to change the presentation of the room, making it look a bit classy. We will be looking to shoot in this location this weekend.

Pictures From The Shoot

These are just many of the photos that were taken, prior to the set up of the shoot last night. We received big help from a lovely friend, Ashaana, who was there to guide and help with the shoot. It worked well, as I also learnt from someone who has passion for cameras and filming. It was a very productive shoot and we hope for many more to come

Evidence of Shoot

My group booked the camera for the weekend. However, we did forget to pick it up last week friday. Luckily we had a kind friend who was able to lend us the camera and a tripod. #RollSafe. This is just proof that we were looking to book a camera, and did, with the intention of shooting in the weekend.

Team Meeting #4

Me, Rashaan and Danyaal have finalised what we have left to finish for the pre production. We had to get the specific people to add the final touches to the Location Release and the Talent Release (Actors) by signing them and granting the group permission. All we have left is to write notes on our storyboard, containing type of shot, location and a quick analytical review of the meaning of the shots.

Edmonton Location Progress

I am looking to phone Guarding UK, to see if we would be able to use the space/location that is protected under corporation. If they do give us the answer that we haven't set our hearts on, we do have the alternative location, which is Southbank.

Checklist of Pre Production

So far, we have completed everything on the check-list. The only thing that needs touching up is the storyboard. It is just minor changes that we have to make, whereby we have to add in what camera shots/angles we will be using for the shot as well as duration, location and a bit of analysis.

Location Release

Contact of Actor

Here, we are speaking to one of the actors. We have mainly talked about Mise-en-scene, which involves the colour requirements for clothing and time of shoot with the location added. However, we have postponed the shoot from Wednesday to another better day, where everyone is available.

Talent Release Forms (Actors)

Team Meeting #3 (WhatsApp Group)

We have made a WhatsApp group, to keep in touch instantly and make updates as to when we will be filming. We will soon be adding the actors to the group.

Risk Assessment

Team Roles & Actors

Here we have a set list of the Actors and the roles of the actors. This has now been finalised because of the completion of the Talent Release Form. We have some other additional actors, just in case actors may say that they cannot make the shoot, but this will be unlikely to occur, as we have chosen reliable actors.

Costume Spec

These Pictures classify the requirements of clothing that will be used during the shoot. All black clothing will be used in the studio, casual clothing will be used in locations such as Southbank and Edmonton and A white top with jeans will be used for the personal, isolated locations, such as the bedroom scene.

Storyboard So Far

Team Meeting #2

In today's lesson, me and Rashaan focused on completing the pre-production process. The completed items are the Recce, Risk Assessment Forms, Team Roles, Lyrics analysis and Costume, Make-up & Props. The Call sheets will be completed nearer to the time of our shooting of our music video. We now are just focusing on finishing the Location Release and Talent Release. In addition, the Storyboard is almost done, with a few bits that need tweaking.

Shooting Calender

Here is the draft schedule that the group has drawn up. This calender will give us information on the dates that we wish to shoot on and the location that we would like to go to.

Here are some of the pictures that I have taken of locations that my group are looking to use for the shooting of our video. The Locations of the shots taken are in Stratford and Edmonton.
